This installment was well-groomed by the weeks immediately preceding it and it is ironic that the problematic intensity involved is a main reason for its entertainment and enjoyment.

After Mary is sent away to live with her grandparents in the next one, the series was not as interesting as it delivers in this well-directed, well-acted special treat of a gem which I find to be more appealing than many episodes of other TV shows as well.. From the attempted financial stranglehold of the collection lady with "Bernie the Attorney" for the defense to the parents little by little throughout the course of the day finding out more and more about the situation which creates a strong bond between them which thankfully proves to be much more important than their episode-opening argument, "Broke" is one of the best.
